Cleansing & caring for your stones: a simple ritual

Every piece leaves our studio cleansed, but stones pick up the texture of daily life — skin oils, perfume, dust, and whatever days you lived in while wearing them. A short monthly ritual keeps beads bright and, in the tradition, keeps their intention yours.

The studio method

  • Soft cloth first. Most of what dulls a bead is simply oil. A dry microfibre or cotton cloth restores almost all of the shine.
  • Moonlight, not sunlight. Leave the bracelet on a windowsill overnight under the moon. Sunlight can fade amethyst, rose quartz and aquamarine over time.
  • A bed of dry salt or selenite. Rest the piece on a small dish of dry sea salt or a selenite plate for a night. Never soak beads in salt water — it harms elastic stringing and some stones.
  • Running water, briefly. Hard stones like quartz and jade tolerate a quick rinse under cool water. Dry immediately and fully.

Setting an intention

Hold the piece, take three slow breaths, and name in one sentence what you want it to remind you of. That is the whole ritual. It works because you do.

Everyday care

Perfume and lotion first, bracelet last. Take beads off for swimming, saunas and heavy lifting. Store them in the linen pouch we include so beads do not knock against harder jewellery.
